Physiologically, PCP was safer than most anestheticsno respiratory depression, wide safety margin. However, psychological reactions were unpredictable. Some patients' behavior became troublesome as they came out of the anesthesia, exhibiting manic behavior. It was reported that about 15 percent of patients experienced feelings of unreality, depersonalization, persecution, depression, and intense anxiety that lasted up to four days.

Answer to Question 2

LSD was used to access the subconscious mind, as a kind of modern truth serum, and as a treatment for alcoholism. There were not consistent results demonstrating positive effects, and the press was full of negative stories about LSD.
