Evaluation is a key factor. A variety of therapeutic interventions is helpful. Play is helpful with young children. Cognitive-behavioral approaches using exposure and cognitive restructuring are also effective. Methylphenidate drugs are helpful with children with ADHD. However, research comparing the effectiveness of different techniques is just under way. No definitive conclusions are possible at this time.
