You have a child in your program who is learning English as a second language. He began preschool two months ago. Although he seems to understand some speech and will respond non-verbally, he is not speaking any English words. 
a) Your co-teacher believes that the child should be referred for speech therapy. What is your response?
b) How will you assist the child to learn English while also preserving his home language?
