You and your partner have arrived along a busy roadside to treat a child who fell from his bike. He states that his elbow was bleeding but it looks like the bleeding has stopped. After he finishes his statement, he asks, "How does my body make the cut stop bleeding?" How would you best explain how clotting works?
◦ There are little cells in your blood called platelets that clump together to close the cut.
◦ The red blood cells in your body direct blood around a tear in the skin, which causes the cut to stop bleeding.
◦ The white blood cells in your body direct blood around a tear in the skin, which causes the cut to stop bleeding.
◦ There are little cells in your blood called plasma that clump together to close the cut.
