Answer to Question 1

Although many people view their behaviors as exciting aspects of their sexuality, others may be uncomfortable with their sexual interests or behaviors. However, discomfort or distress about certain sexual interests or behaviors may arise from the fact that their sexual desires are in conflict with current social standards (Wright, 2010). If a person enjoys sexual behaviors that society views as pathological, distress can occur. Because of this, there has been a movement to depathologize unusual sexual behaviors (Wright, 2010).
