In several variations on Asch's classic experiment, a standard-setting line was first presented to small groups of people, followed by the presentation of three comparison lines of different lengths.
 
  In one condition, two of three accomplices, posing as students, chose an incorrect answer before the subject could respond. The third accomplice sometimes chose a correct response and sometimes chose a more incorrect response. Under these conditions, respondents were more likely to choose the correct response. These results suggest ________. a) it becomes easier to resist conformity pressure once unanimity of the group is broken

The three predictors of deception are 1) microexpressions, 2) interchannel discrepancies, and 3) exaggerated facial expressions. Microexpressions are fleeting facial expressions lasting only a few tenths of a second. An example of a microexpression could be a scrunched nose, pursed lips, or a twitch in one's eye. Interchannel discrepancies are discrepancies between a person's facial expression and body language. For example, if one is smiling and nodding in agreement but one has shaking hands that are fidgeting with an object, then he or she is displaying an interchannel discrepancy. Finally, exaggerated facial expressions are facial expressions that are overstated or used more frequently than usual. For example, if a person is smiling more than usual, then that person is displaying an exaggerated facial expression.
