Fast foods provide higher amounts of fats, carbohydrates, and protein. They may not provide high levels of the B vitamins. These vitamins serve as coenzymes, assisting enzymes active in the cell's production of energy. When the diet supplies adequate B vitamins, the cell's energy metabolism enzymes work more efficiently at releasing energy from carbohydrates and fats.
