Alejandra is a 13-year-old female who was diagnosed with moderate to severe bipolar disorder at 5 years of age. If Alejandra follows a typical developmental course what can her parents expect as she approaches adolescence and young adulthood? Also, identify what characteristics might put Alejandra at high risk for a poor outcome.
