Social loafing is the tendency for people to relax when they are in the presence of others and their individual performance cannot be evaluated. In both cases, the individual is hiding within the group. However, social loafing isn't typically associated with deviant behavior while deindividuation often is. Deindividuation doesn't always result in negative outcomes, but it is more often mentioned as a cause for a group situation that goes badly.
