(1) Having friends who exercise increases the likelihood of movement-related
activities.
(2) Living in communities that support activity such as those that have walking and
bike paths, parks, fields, and gyms invite people to use them.

Depression is debilitating because it undercuts achievements such as higher
education, vocational choices, and romantic commitments that normally occur
between ages 18 and 25; it also makes the rest of adulthood more difficult. Often
young adults distance themselves from others, feeling alone and believing that
nothing will help.
