Answer to Question 1

c

Answer to Question 2

The affective or emotional basis of friendship refers to self-disclosure and expressions of intimacy, appreciation, affection, and support, all of which are based on trust, loyalty, and commitment. The shared or communal nature of friendship refers to friends participating in or supporting activities of mutual interest. The sociability or compatibility basis of friendship refers to our friends entertaining us and providing sources of amusement, fun, and recreation. Women tend to base their friendships on more intimate and emotional sharing and use friendship as a means to confide in others. For men, friendships are often less intimate and rely on shared activities. Cross-sex friendships tend to help men have lower levels of dating anxiety and higher capacity for intimacy, but do not provide the same benefits for women. In cross-sex friendships, men tend to overperceive and women tend to underperceive their friends' sexual interest in them.
