Answer to Question 2

To be sure, the development of computer technology has introduced new dynamics into the 21st century process of finding a mate. Internet chat rooms are quickly replacing bar rooms as a place for meeting available singles. Organizations such as Match.com, eHarmony.com, Facebook.com, and Xanga.com provide people a forum in which to place personal ads, blog daily journals of their life happenings, and place personal photos. These electronic liaisons allow people to remain anonymous or to fully self-disclose personal information about themselves.
Today, about 1 in 5 singles looks for love through the World Wide Web, instant messaging, on- line chat rooms, email, or internet video communication (Canadian Business, 2002 ). In one survey of over 4,500 internet users, respondents aged 18 -24 indicated that they met an average of 10 dating partners in on-line chat rooms (Hollander, 2003 ). Sexual hook-ups (see hooking up a bit later in this chapter) often resulted from the internet meetings.
There is a hazardous side to cyberdating, however. While you may be looking for love, the person on the other end of the mouse may be looking for a quick sexual encounter or may have even more dangerous intentions. About one-third of internet daters lie about their marital status, and some rejected daters may begin to cyber-stalk or harass their internet companion (Plotnikoff, 1994).

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
