Atelectasis in newborn respiratory distress is due to lack of surfactant, not pulmonary edema. Atelectasis in newborn respiratory distress is not due to either an airway obstruction or pulmo-nary fibrosis.

The most common cause of croup is viral, not bacterial. Croup is not caused by acute hyperventi-lation or an allergic response.
