ANS: B
Transferrin is the carrier protein for iron. Ferritin and hemosiderin are storage forms of iron. Albumin is a carrier protein for many substances but not for iron.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Ferritin is the soluble form of storage iron and is more readily available for use. Hemosiderin is ferritin that has been partially degraded; as a result, it is insoluble and precipitates. It is this form of storage iron that is stained by iron-specific stains such as the Prussian blue stain.
