How might a patient be adversely affected if more information were disclosed than the minimum necessary? What are some techniques the medical office manager could use to keep these types of HIPAA violations from happening?

Answer to Question 1

A patient may be denied insurance, or may not be offered employment, if information is disclosed improperly. The medical office manager must be sure all members of the medical office are properly trained on the proper disclosure of medical information to keep improper disclosures from happening.

Answer to Question 2

False: White-out is not acceptable when correcting a medical record.
