Answer to Question 1

b
Contact precautions are implemented to prevent the spread of the causative organism to other
patients and to health care workers. They do not affect the patient's infection either by helping it get
better or by preventing it from getting worse, and they are not used on every patient who has surgery.

Answer to Question 2

a, b, d, e, f: both (B); c: fat embolus (F)
Symptoms of fat embolism and blood clot embolism in the lungs are essentially the same, except
petechiae are characteristic of fat embolism only.
