Answer to Question 1

C
Shivering is a homeostatic activity that generates heat and increases body temperature. Shivering would not cause a paralytic ileus, cardiac arrhythmias, or seizures.

Answer to Question 2

B
A guideline published by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma in 2014 re-commends holding direct pressure on the bleeding area for prehospital control of bleeding. If this approach is impractical or ineffective, a tourniquet may be implemented. It is not always possible to compress the artery at the needed location, so this choice is not a first line intervention. Eleva-tion of an injured extremity is no longer recommended.
