Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 2, 3, 4
Oral contraceptives are contraindicated in women with hypertension, smoking, or thrombophlebitis. Vitamin C supplements would not interfere with oral contraceptives. A family history of arthritis is not a contraindication for oral contraceptives.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1, 2, 3
The patient should be instructed to avoid heavy lifting, which can interfere with healing and cause a hemorrhage; to avoid tampons for 2 weeks to reduce the risk of infection and allow tissue to heal; and to rest for several days after the procedure to promote tissue healing. The onset of the next menstrual period may be delayed because the surgical procedure removes the endometrial lining. Bright red bleeding that exceeds that of a normal menstrual period should be reported as it may indicate hemorrhage.
