1. Depending on the severity of withdrawal, the client might experience seizures. The nurse should pad the bed with blankets and puts other seizure precautions in place.
2. The nurse should assess vital signs more frequently than every 8 hours, as vital signs will help the nurse determine the severity of withdrawal.
3. The client in withdrawal will not be able to eat in the acute phase.
4. Skin care is always appropriate; however, when in withdrawal, safety of the client is the nursing priority.
