1. Cortisone is used by the body at higher rates when under stress. The client who is seriously ill is going to require higher doses of the medication to help the body deal with the stress of illness.
2. A different drug is not needed, although the client might respond better to the IV route.
3. A client in the ICU is critically ill and will not be expected to ambulate.
4. The client in the ICU will not be eating and will likely receive his nutrition IV.
