Currently, there are number of AHIMA and AAPC certified ICD-9-CM coders. Both AHIMA and AAPC require their currently credentialed coders to upgrade their skills to ICD-10-CM/PCS. Compare AHIMA's upgrade requirements to AAPC's requirements.

Answer: AHIMAcredentialed coders must complete a specific number of CEUs based on their specialty and coding credentials. AAPCcertified coders must
take an ICD-10-CM proficiency exam.
