Answer to Question 1

3
Feedback
1. The chest is used to test capillary refill in children, not pallor.
2. Because of the differing temperatures of the extremities, pallor should not be assessed in this area.
3. Appropriate assessment of pallor is done inside the cheek.
4. The fingernail beds can be used to test capillary refill, but are not appropriate to test skin color.

Answer to Question 2

Feedback
1. The pulse pressures widen because of the low pressure gradient within the heart.
2. The widening occurs because of the low pressure gradient within the heart.
3. The heart rate will increase because of not perfusing to the lungs.
4. The capillary refill will be sluggish because the oxygenated blood is not going out to the rest of the body.
