B Incorrect. Ice packs will decrease blood flow to the breast and be counterproductive to effective breastfeeding.
C Incorrect. Pumping part of the milk from the breast before the baby latches on would be inappropriate. In preparation for latch on it may be helpful for the mother to manually express a few drops of milk and spread it over the nipple. This may entice the baby to open the mouth as the milk is tasted.
