Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, B, D, F
Galactosemia, phenylketonuria, maple syrup urine disease, and hypothyroidism would be included. Only one blood sample is needed to test for all four metabolic disorders before discharge from the nursery. This allows for early diagnosis and treatment to prevent possible serious consequences from these diseases. Muscular dystrophy is a chromosomal disorder, and congenital hip dysplasia is a skeletal system disorder.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
All options are correct except administering formula to the infant while under the light. The infant should be removed from under the light for feedings and short parental visits.
