Answer to Question 1

Although most 3PL firms promote themselves as providers of a comprehensive range of logistics services, it is useful to categorize them in one of several ways. Included are transportation-based, warehouse/distribution-based, forwarder-based, shipper/management-based, financial-based, and information-based firms. Transportation-based 3PLs are the most widely used 3PLs.
