Answer to Question 1

B
There are two independent variables in the study. There would be a null hypothesis for the main effect of each of these variables and one for the interaction between them, for a total of three.

Answer to Question 2

C
There is one null hypothesis for each main effect and one for the interaction. There are two main effects if there are two independent variables. Therefore, there are 3 null hypotheses in all.
