Answer to Question 1

In sociological terms, minority does not necessarily mean a group that is smaller numerically. Minority groups are groups with less power in society, who share a common characteristic, and have a sense of shared identity among themselves. Women and blacks in the former South Africa are examples of numerically larger minority groups.
