Answer to Question 1

Individuals affected by heat exhaustion should replenish lost fluid by drinking water or a sports drink while being cooled with cold towels and cold water immersion. Equipment such as football pads and heavy clothing should be removed.. The athlete should lie down in a cool, shaded place and should be withdrawn from further activity for the remainder of the day. If the athlete does not recover fully within 30 minutes or seems to be getting worse, activate EMS.
