Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

Social scientists define a group as a collection of two or more interacting individuals, with a stable pattern of relationships between them, who share common goals, and who perceive themselves as being a group. For the people standing in line, there must be certain characteristics for them to be considered a group:
1 Social interaction  members of a group must have some influence on each other. The people waiting in line are dependent to some extent on those waiting ahead of them to pass through security quickly.
2 Stable structure  the only structure for those in line is the fact that there is a queue that determines who goes next.
3 Common interests  the people have a minimal interest of getting through security but will then move on to other pursuits.
4 Recognition as being a group  it is unlikely that those waiting in line will perceive themselves as being members of a group.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
