Why does Pirsig say, An experiment is never a failure solely because it fails to achieve predicted results?

Answer to Question 1

A study is not a failure simply because one does not find support for the hypothesis. This means that there was not sufficient evidence to enable one to reject the null hypothesis. It can be a stimulus to further research on the question.

Answer to Question 2

The teacher would be using authority as a source of knowledge.
