An ICU manager is investigating a complaint by a night shift staff nurse who states a clients family member was violent toward her.
 
  The manager learns from the nurse a male visitor challenged the nurse such that she was confined against a wall and encountered verbal accusations. The manager informs the HR (human resources) director of an act of: 1. Disgruntled family members.
  2. Violence.
  3. Battery.
  4. Physical attacks against an employee.

Question 2

A nurse manager has had issues with a marginal employee. Staff have complained several times to the manager regarding this employees competence. Which action by the manager would be appropriate?
 
  1. Discuss the issues at a staff meeting and illicit methods to improve morale.
  2. Discipline the marginal employee.
  3. Monitor the staffs performance to determine the lack of civility.
  4. Terminate the employee.

Discussing the issue of morale and monitoring staff regarding civility will not address the
