A director has been approached by a nurse manager who wants to implement an innovative work schedule for the unit. The director informs the manager that the director must first review:
 
  1. Previous work schedules.
  2. A cost-benefit analysis.
  3. The units budget.
  4. The human resources policy regarding staffing.

A director is reviewing last years salaries in preparation for the next years budget. The director notes increased wages over the past year and discusses the issue with the unit manager. Which would be a cause for increased salaries?

changes to a units scheduling policy. Reviewing the suggested changes and how they affect
costs and benefit the organization will assist the director in making a sound decision.

Answer to Question 2

Explanation: 1. High turnover rate would increase salaries because the unit would be paying additional wages
to orient a new nurse. Low client acuity does not affect salaries to increase. Increase in tuition
reimbursement is not taken from the budgeted account of salaries. The managers worked
hours do not apply because most managers are salaried employees.
