Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1, 3, 4

Process focuses on the actions that comprise health care and include the tasks, activities, and flow of work that are involved to achieve a result or outcomes. Clinical and administrative workflows fit within the component of process. Examples of process components include the diagnosis and treatment of illness, patient education, and interpersonal processes. Outcomes are the end result of care processes and represent the effects of health care on patients, families, and communities. Examples of outcomes include changes in measures of health, behavior, knowledge, quality of life, and satisfaction with care.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 2

In order to develop an evidence-based practice, the nurse first needs to learn how to critically appraise research reports. Although the nurse might want to discuss improving practice with all of his or her peers, there is no need to get special permission to improve one's practice. Contracting with a consultant is not necessary as there are many resources available to help the nurse learn about EBP. There is no need to methodically categorize research findings.

This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
