Explain how Obama employed the strategy by having Joe Biden serve as his vice president in addition to appointing Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, and how he went even further than Lincoln in expanding the ideological diversity of his administration by retaining Republican Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense.
d. Discuss the benefits that accrued to Hillary Clinton from this strategywhen she decided to run for the presidency in 2016, including gaining access to important Obama supporters and allowing her to sideline potential opponents such as Vice President Biden.
