2. They are often linked by a similar status such as unemployment.
3. They often have a recognized leader as well as ritual initiation procedures.
4. Research found that many of the young men had a defiant individualist personality type, which is characterized by intense competitiveness, mistrust of others, self-reliance, social isolation, and a strong survival instinct.
