Answer to Question 1

Apples have fat around the waist; pears have fat around the hips and thighs.
Apples are prone to heart problems.
Pear fat has higher levels of HDL.
With apple fat, there is more accumulation closer to the heart; in engineering, the closer the impedance is to a pump, the more strain on the pump.

Answer to Question 2

BMI does not take into account body composition.
BMI only measures a height and weight relationship.
A heavily muscled athlete could register as obese according to BMI score, yet be very low in percent body fat.
