Teachers and library media specialists often face a difficult task in selecting appropriate, quality literature that meets the developmental, intellectual, and social needs of adolescents as well as the curricular standards of the school. Perhaps the ideal way to accomplish this is:
 
  a. for educators to read as much young adult literature as possible and make their own judgments about the quality and appropriateness of the literature.
  b. to make purchases based upon publishers' catalogs because they usually provide objective and unbiased reviews.
