Answer to Question 1

These are effective strategies for frugal living.
Invest with your roommates in a coffee maker. Brew your own, pour it into an insulated mug, and carry it with you rather than buying a pricey coffee drink.
Explore thrift stores when you need furniture, sports equipment, or clothing. Never pay retail prices.
Before you make a purchase, find out if there's a student discount for it. You can save money on everything from movie tickets to a new computer.

Answer to Question 2

Use your money for rent, bills, and groceries first. Then look ahead to upcoming expenses to see what you need to save for. This will give you a reality check on how much you have for going out or buying new clothes. Ideally, you should be able to save as well as spend. Financial planning starts with defining your financial goals, making plans for how to reach them, and taking action to make your goals a reality.
