Answer to Question 1

According to the most recent Stress in America survey, the most common sources of stress nationwide for Americans are money, work, and family responsibilities, followed by personal health concerns, health issues affecting family members, and then the economy. People of other westernized nations report similar stressors, although indigenous peoples in less industrialized regions can have markedly different stressors.

Answer to Question 2

Rather than breeding anxiety or aggression, stress can foster caring and compassion; rather than increasing anxiety and depression, it can lead to greater meaning and sense of purpose; rather than isolating you from others, it can strengthen human connections. When understood and accepted, stress can be beneficial and even essential for health and growth.
