Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

Atherosclerosis is a condition in which blood vessels are narrowed by deposits of plaque in their lining. Atherosclerosis in coronary arteriesthe arteries supplying oxygen and nutrients to the heart muscle itselfcan so significantly reduce blood flow that an area of the heart muscle experiences severe ischemia and a heart attack occurs. A blockage can also cause a microscopic tear in an artery, and a clota thrombuscan form. If the thrombus breaks off from the artery, it can travel as an embolus through the circulatory system until it completely blocks a narrow vessel. This also will result in a heart attack. Atherosclerosis in a cerebral artery can similarly cause ischemia or thrombus formation, causing a cerebrovascular accident, or stroke.
