Answer to Question 1

Stage 1 is the lightest stage of sleep and lasts only a few minutes.
Stage 2 lasts 5 to 15 minutes and is deeper than stage 1. Body movements gradually cease.
Stage 3 is called slow-wave sleep. Blood pressure drops and heart and respiration rates slow.
Stage 4 is the deepest stage. Human growth hormone is released during this stage to signal the body to repair tissues.
