Answer to Question 1

Answer: Failure rate is the percentage of women who typically get pregnant after using a given contraceptive method for one year. Continuation rate is the percentage of couples who continue to practice a given form of birth control.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: In the founding years of the U.S., abortion was legal, but fell out of favor. By 1873, the Comstock Act criminalized the distribution or possession of devices, medication, or information used for abortion or contraception. In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court said in the case Roe v. Wade, all women gained the constitutional right to an abortion in the first 6 months of their pregnancy. There is still much contention and argument both publically and politically about the women's rights and abortion. In addition, the issues of late-term and partial-birth abortions have further continued the argument. While abortions remain legal, state rulings seek to amend the language, Congress blocked the use of federal money, and groups rally to pass a Constitutional amendment to ban abortion. Currently 86 of counties in the U.S. have no abortion services.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.

Most strokes are caused when blood clots move to a blood vessel in the brain and block blood flow to that area. Thrombolytic therapy can be used to dissolve the clot quickly. If given within 3 hours of the first stroke symptoms, this therapy can help limit stroke damage and disability.
