Answer to Question 1

Answer: You are likely to see any number of family types that are different from the traditional family pattern: Men go to work and earn money for the family, while women stay home and tend the children. Examples: families headed by a super mom, men staying home with children, both parents working full-time jobs, single-parent families, blended families, and step families.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Responses will vary but will likely include one or more of the following:
Single mothers face economic hardship, in part due to lower rates of education that affect their job prospects.
They may lack emotional support from a partner and experience stress as a result of decision-making pressures and childcare issues.
Single fathers are less likely to face economic hardship and the troubles that accompany poverty.
