Answer: Any five of the following:
1. Abdominal obesity (a waist circumference  40 inches for males and  35 inches for females)
2. Elevated blood pressure ( 130/85 mm Hg)
3. Elevated fasting blood glucose ( 110 mg/dL)
4. Elevated blood triglycerides (> 150)
5. Low HDL cholesterol (< 40)
6. High LDL cholesterol ( 130)
7. Smoking
8. Inflammatory markers (notably CRP)
9. Insulin resistance

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The right atrium receives oxygen-depleted blood and pushes it to the right ventricle through the arteries to the lungs. There, blood cells collect oxygen. The oxygenated blood moves through the veins to the heart and gets pumped through the left atrium and ventricle out in to the body.
