Answer to Question 1

Answer: TRUE

Answer to Question 2

Answer: In a healthy individual, when glucose enters the bloodstream, cells in the pancreas produce and release insulin. Insulin signals the body cells to remove glucose and utilize it for energy. This process regulates blood glucose levels. In an individual with type 1 diabetes, the cells that produce insulin have been destroyed, so glucose collects in the bloodstream. This results in nerve and blood vessel damage. In an individual with type 2 diabetes, the cells produce insulin, but it's ineffective. Glucose is unable to enter the body effectively, so it accumulates in the bloodstream. This results in nerve and blood vessel damage.
