The health information department is responsible for allowing appropriate access to patient information in support of clinical practice, health services, and medical research, while at the same time maintaining confidentiality of patient and provider data.
Health information services include department administration, cancer registry, coding and abstracting, image processing, incomplete record processing, medical transcription, record circulation, and release of information processing.
