Familial and site-specific cancer registries are used as research tools and sources of education and advocacy for cancer patients. Examples include the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States, the Breast Cancer Family Registry, Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry, and the National Familial Lung Cancer Registry.
