Answer to Question 1

c. 1930.

Answer to Question 2

Prisons are classified by their level of security. Maximum security prisons have heavily armed guards and high fences and walls, as well as very restrictive rules for controlling the movement of inmates. These facilities house the inmates who have the longest sentences. Medium security prisons have slightly less restrictive rules and facilities. Individuals convicted of misdemeanorsoffense s less serious than feloniesare kept in medium security prisons. Minimum security prisons offer the least restrictive rules and facilities. They house individuals convicted of nonviolent crimes such as forgery and obstruction of justice.
