Atmospheric water drives weather systems and influences the Earth's energy balance; humidity can affect human comfort levels; atmospheric moisture is a potential water resource; atmospheric moisture in the form of fog can be a driving or shipping hazard. Water vapor is also a greenhouse gas and human actions can increase or decrease the amount of atmospheric water vapor in an area.
