Atmospheric water drives weather systems and influences the Earth's energy balance; humidity can affect human comfort levels; atmospheric moisture is a potential water resource; atmospheric moisture in the form of fog can be a driving or shipping hazard. Water vapor is also a greenhouse gas and human actions can increase or decrease the amount of atmospheric water vapor in an area.

Thermal properties of urban surfaces; reflective properties of urban surfaces; urban canyon effect; antropogenic heating; pollution, and urban desert effect are among those factors listed int the book.
